THE STATE JUST CONFIRMED IT: HAMPTON TAXPAYERS WERE RIGHT
After years of warnings, evidence, and public challenges, a New Hampshire state tribunal has officially ruled that Hampton’s property assessment system was fundamentally inadequate — and had gone without a full lawful measure and list for at least 20 years.
The same problems plaintiffs raised again and again were ignored by the elected Hampton Board of Selectmen, who also serve as the Town’s Assessors and are responsible for fair taxation.
They said nothing was wrong.
The State just proved otherwise.
Now a board-ordered full revaluation is required — and the New Hampshire Supreme Court has been formally notified.
What taxpayers were told to ignore is now an official state finding.
