S. BROWN STATEMENT REGARDING HE IS ANTI - 2ND AMENDMENT -
RELEASED TODAY:
"As a gun owner with a lot of guns and ammunition, that is not accurate. I know Sununu is also pushing that narrative. I have been very public for years saying pretty much exactly what I have said below
I had an A to A minus rating my entire career. I represented Massachusetts and when they voted to extend the assault weapons ban, all the legislators worked with GOAL in the NRA and we got a great deal for the state’s gun owners. That did not affect my rating at all.
After Sandy Hook, I had an acquaintance whose friend had a family that was affected by that tragedy and I said maybe we should look into banning assault weapons. I never voted on it as a US senator And I soon recognized that it was not about the gun, but that was about the individuals using them. I have often apologized to many of the gun advocates, earning many endorsements from them not only then, but now. That includes Rick Olsen and Steve Cox from the Londonderry fish and game, JJ, Valera, and others. As I said, I have plenty of guns and plenty of ammunition and I’ve been shooting since I was 12 years old. I’m not anti-gun at all, so that’s bullshit. This is not Massachusetts and it was almost 15 years ago with my memory serves me and the world has changed and I am more committed than ever to protect our second amendment rights.
In addition, I have pledged that I’ll be working on the reciprocity issue. I already spoke to Markwayne Mullen and other senators about making sure it’s a priority for us gun owners, which is critically important to law abiding gun owners who are being arrested in charged in other states, like Massachusetts.
I also pledged that I would hire a second amendment expert on my staff full-time to guide me and assist me in dealing with any 2nd amendment issues.
I also pledge that I will not be voting on any federal legislation to take away any second amendment rights. These issues should be left to the states.
That’s all I can say. If they choose to not vote for me or write in JOHN Stark or whatever. Then we lose the election. Then you’ll have a either a globalist or an anti-everything person."
