At the Oct. 29, 2025 Hampton Board of Selectmen meeting, the board voted to use $500,000 from the town’s $8.8 million unassigned fund balance to reduce the preliminary property tax rate to $12.61—a $0.29 increase from last year’s $12.32. The village district rate also rose $0.13.
The board noted Hampton expects to receive $1.63 million in Rooms & Meals (R&M) tax revenue from the state, though it is not known how much Hampton contributed to the state's total R&M revenues.
Discussions included:
Funding the Hampton Hub in 2027,
Concerns from three members about the “impending economic collapse,”
Selectman Hansen’s argued the board has been “sensitive” about last year’s historic $9 million property tax hike, and
Warnings from several members about "inevitable" rising future costs, especially over the next few years.
Taxpayers are urged to pay attention to the board’s handling of town finances.
