THE TOWN OF HAMPTON From 95% to 42%: Who Let the Property Tax System Crash and Burn?

🚨 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT – PROPERTY TAX RED FLAG 🚨

Every few years, the New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration (DRA) reviews your town’s property assessment practices — the very system that determines what your home is “worth” and how much you pay in property taxes.

In 2018, the town received a 95% rating.

In 2023, that score plummeted to 42%.

That’s not a minor dip — that’s a collapse.

According to testimony from the town manager, this failing grade was never brought to the Board of Selectmen’s attention and was not presented to the board by the contracted assessor, Municipal Resources.

Your property taxes are based on these assessment practices. If the grading dropped that drastically and leadership didn’t even address it, the public deserves to know why.
